The Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo is a non-profit organization that creates a unique event in the region that brings together horse lovers, country music and local products.

The mission of this organization is first and foremost to offer a quality event with a country flavour to the festival-goers, but also to give back to the community of Ayer’s Cliff and to contribute to the increase of the tourist affluence within this small and unique municipality of the Eastern Townships region.

A little history

Due to its privileged location on the shores of the magnificent Lake Massawippi, which is considered one of the ten most beautiful lakes in Quebec and whose name means “the great deep lake” in the Abenaki language, Ayer’s Cliff is well known.

Because of its location at the intersection of Routes 208 and 141, the village is shaped like a Y. Nestled at the southern end of Lake Massawippi, it presents a series of very distinct faces: a small commercial core at the intersection of the highways, a more artisanal area on Route 141, and a series of charming residences, some of which are over 100 years old, along the main street and adjacent streets. Visitors can stop by the shores of Lake Massawippi, along Route 141, at the rest stop and the municipal wharf.

There are full banking services, a post office, a grocery store offering regional specialties, a butcher shop, a gas station with a car wash, a garage for dent removal and painting of vehicles, a hardware store, restaurants, art galleries, an inn, B&Bs, wood and leather craftsmen, personal services such as hairdressing, esthetics, accounting, a veterinary clinic, a residence for the elderly, a marina, as well as contractors in construction, renovation, electricity, landscaping and maintenance have their place of business in the municipality. Then, six industries, offering specialized jobs to nearly 500 people in the region, contribute to maintaining full employment in the municipality. In all, more than 40 businesses and industries are in Ayer’s Cliff.

A visit to the Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo will bring you to a site filled with history. Indeed, it is in 2014 that the Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo made its appearance with its first edition at the site of the Ayer’s Cliff Agricultural Exhibition. However, the site that houses the very popular fair that will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2020 is a site with a very rich history that will take you back decades from the moment you arrive.
